Legendary Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has become the most capped player in international football. Portugal beat Liechtenstein 4–0 in a Euro qualifier. Ronaldo scored two goals in this match. He scored the first goal in the 51st minute on penalty. He then scored a goal on a free kick in the 63rd minute. Apart from captain Ronaldo, Joao Cancelo (8th minute) and Bernardo Silva (47th minute) also scored for Portugal.
This was Ronaldo’s 197th international match for Portugal. He overtook Badr Al Mutwa who played 196 matches for Kuwait. During last year’s Qatar World Cup, former coach Fernando Santos faced criticism for not including the 38-year-old Ronaldo in the playing XI for the knockout matches. Team Qatar lost to Morocco in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Ronaldo left the field crying after the defeat against Morocco. After this there was doubt about his return to the team.
Harry Kane has scored 54 goals for England
England’s star striker Harry Kane made a special record against Italy in the Euro qualifier match. England beat Italy 2–1. Harry Kane scored a penalty in the 44th minute for England and became the highest goalscorer for the national team. Kane scored his 54th goal for England and broke the record held by Wayne Rooney (53 goals, 119 matches).
Kane has played 81 matches for the national team. Apart from him, Declan Rice (13th minute) scored the first goal of the match for England. At the same time, Matteo Retegui (56th minute) was able to score the only goal for Italy. Rooney played for England from 2013 to 2018 while Kane made his England debut in 2015.
