In fact, on Tuesday, FIFA suspended the AIFF due to third party interference. The decision was taken due to a serious violation of FIFA’s rules and constitution. The Football Federation of India (AIFF) faced a suspension from FIFA for the first time in its 85-year history. This decision of FIFA also took away from India the rights to host the Under-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in October. The elections to the AIFF were to be held by December 2020 under the leadership of FIFA Council member Praful Patel, but were delayed due to a deadlock over amendments to its constitution. Subsequently, earlier this month (August 3), the Supreme Court had ordered immediate elections and said that the Elected Committee (CoA) would be an interim body for a period of three months. The CoA decided to conduct the election on its own accord and in this it was decided to get votes from some former prominent players. This was considered by FIFA to be third party interference.

FIFA said in a statement on Monday – The suspension will be lifted after the order to set up a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee and the AIFF administration will gain full control over the day-to-day affairs of the AIFF. .
