Eric Garcetti Nomination For Ambassador To India Confirmed: Voting took place on Wednesday (March 15) in the US Senate on the nomination of Eric Garcetti as the next US ambassador to India. His name has been stamped in the ballot. There were 52 votes against 42 in his favor. He will soon take over as the US Ambassador to India. The post of US Ambassador to India has been vacant for more than two years.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer proposed Garcetti’s nomination. He took this step at a time when Garcetti’s opponents are raising the issue of his failure to investigate allegations of sexual harassment against a close aide during his tenure as mayor of Los Angeles.
