According to a PTI report, Trade Minister Nalin Fernando told the Sri Lankan Parliament on Thursday (March 23) that his State Trading General Corporation has imported eggs. He told that eggs have been imported from India and their consignment has also reached Lanka. Fernando said that now the eggs will be delivered to the market within three days.

Sri Lanka’s trade minister said in Parliament that the cabinet committee had decided to import eggs to ensure food security in the country. Earlier, in January, when there was a shortage of eggs in the market, the Department of Animal Production and Health had refused to approve the import of eggs from India and Pakistan because both countries had been infected with bird flu during the previous six months. cases had come to the fore. Sri Lanka’s health department had then said that eggs should be imported from countries where bird flu cases have not been reported in the last 6 months.
Sri Lanka got money from IMF
Explain that Sri Lanka has received an economic package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe gave this information to the Parliament only yesterday. Wickremesinghe said that he has received the first installment of $330 million. He told that now his government officials will start the next round of talks with bondholders and bilateral creditors in the third week of April.
