Sumit Nagal led India to a come-from-behind victory in the second singles match in their Davis Cup World Group play-off tie against Denmark. Yuki Bhambri was defeated by world number nine Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2 in the first match on Friday. Yuki lost in 58 minutes against a tough opponent. Denmark were ahead 1-0 after Yuki’s loss but Sumit equalized at 1-1.
In singles, India’s number one Sumit Nagal defeated August Holmgren 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 27 minutes. Ranked 506 in the world, Nagal lost the first set against an opponent ranked 484. In the first set, he was not seen in his rhythm and was seen struggling against the opposing player. He lost the first set 4-6.

Twenty-five-year-old Sumit Nagal came back brilliantly in the match after losing the first set. After this he did not give Holmgren any chance to recover. He came back in the second set to lead 5–2 and took the set in the ninth game to take the match to a decider. Sumit won the second set 6-3 and the last set 6-4. In the last two sets, he put his full experience and won the match.
India needs to win at any cost
In the deciding set, Nagal maintained his momentum and won the match by winning the set. Now doubles and reverse singles matches will be played. If India loses, they will be relegated to World Group 2.
