India’s performance in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games was excellent. India won a total of 61 medals including 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. The team finished fourth in the 72-nation competition. Only Australia (178 medals), England (176 medals) and Canada (92 medals) were ahead of India. India’s medal winning streak was divided into three parts.
Initially, the weightlifters showed amazing performance. Weightlifters including Mirabai Chanu, Achinta Sheuly and Jeremy Lalrinnunga won 10 medals. After this, India won 12 medals in wrestling. So much so that in the end Indian boxers and shuttlers won medals. Along with this, the performance of Indian players in table tennis was also excellent.

He defeated Canadian wrestler Lachlan 9-2 in the final in the 65 kg wrestling category. This is Bajrang’s third consecutive medal and second consecutive gold at the Commonwealth Games. Earlier he had won silver at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, gold at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. At the same time, once again he has won gold in Birmingham. When Bajrang arrived to collect the gold medal, he had tears in his eyes during the national anthem.
