China Uyghur Women: The Chinese government has been facing allegations of atrocities against the Uyghur women living there. Now a shocking report has come to the fore. Accordingly, the Chinese government has encouraged and forced inter-ethnic marriages in the Uyghur region since 2014. In the Xinjiang or East Turkestan region of China, advertisements are given for the marriage of Uyghur women or girls to attract Han Men.
It has been revealed in this report that Uyghur women were forcibly married. The role of the party-state in promoting, encouraging and coercing inter-ethnic marriages between Uyghur women and Han men in East Turkestan has come to the fore. Omar Kanat, executive director of the UHRP, said the Chinese government targets women in the ongoing genocide of the Uyghur people.
Appeal to end forced marriage of women
According to the report, several governments and the United Nations have recognized that human rights abuses in East Turkestan constitute genocide and crimes against humanity. The Washington-based UHRP has urged women’s rights campaigns to call for accountability and end the forced marriages of Uighurs and other Turkic women.
