Bachendri Pal was born on 24 May 1954 in Nakuri, a small village in Garhwal district in Uttaranchal. His father’s name was Kishanpal Singh and mother’s name was Hansa Devi. Bachendri was one of their five children. Bachendri Pal’s father Kishan Pal Singh was a simple businessman. To feed the family, Bachendri Pal used to transport wheat, rice and groceries to Tibet on mules and sold Tibetan goods to Garhwal.
