Star player of Belarus Victoria Azarenka easily defeated Jessica Pegula and made it to the semi-finals after 10 years in the Australian Open. Azarenka, 33, lost only five games in the match against third seed Pegula and won the match 6-4, 6-1. Two-time winner Azarenka won in one hour and 37 minutes. Azarenka will face Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals, who defeated Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

Earlier, Azarenka made it to the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2013 where she was the winner. She has reached the last four of the US Open for the first time since the 2020 US Open. She has reached the last four for the ninth time in Grand Slam. After the win Victoria Azarenka said “I am happy to reach the semi-finals. I have worked a lot mentally. I have also challenged myself many times. I try to do new things.”

Khachanov reached the semi-finals of Grand Slam for the second time in a row

Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov made it to the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the first time. Khachanov’s men’s singles quarterfinal match was against Sebastian Korda. Korda had to leave the match in the third set due to injury and Khachanov reached the last-four. Khachanov has reached the last four of a Grand Slam for the second time in a row. Earlier, his journey ended in the semi-finals of the US Open last year.

18th seed Khachanov was leading 7-6(5), 6-3, 3-0 in the match when Korda had to leave the match with a right wrist injury. Korda, who beat US Open champion and two-time Australian Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev in the third round, had to seek medical attention in the second set. Khachanov will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last four. Karen Khachanov said after the win “It’s nice to be in the semifinals of a Grand Slam for the second time in a row. That’s not the way anyone would want to end a match. Korda beat a friend of mine as well.”

Tsitsipas in the last four of Australian Open for the fourth time

Third seed Stefanase Tsitsipas beat Jiri Lehka in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-4 to reach the semifinals. Tsitsipas won the match in two hours and 17 minutes. After the match, Tsitsipas said that this three-set match was very difficult, but I was able to win. Jiri has done exceptionally well in the tournament. I wish him all the best for the future.

World number four Tsitsipas has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the fourth time. With this win, Tsitsipas also improved his quarterfinal record in Grand Slam. He has not lost a single quarter-final in six Grand Slams.

Sania and Rohan Bopanna pair in last four

The Indian pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna entered the last four of the mixed doubles event at the Australian Open. The Indian pair got a walkover over Jelena Ostapenko and David Vega Hernandez. Sania and Bopanna are yet to drop a single set in mixed doubles. The men’s doubles pair of Bopanna and Matthew Ebden had made a first round exit. Sania and Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina lost in the second round of women’s doubles.
