Senior sports administrator Anil Khanna on Wednesday resigned as the working president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). He has given this resignation two weeks after not recognizing the interim or working president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC had issued a letter on 8 September saying that the IOA elections should be held compulsorily by December. If elections are not held on time, the IOA could be suspended.
Khanna took over as working president on the orders of the court after the removal of Narinder Batra. Khanna resigned saying, he respects the IOC. He asked the world’s top sports body as to who would have the final authority to decide and interpret the laws of the country and the constitution of the NOC (National Olympic Committee).
